What is Society Central?
Society Central is a social policy news website aiming to forge better connections between academic researchers and those involved in the policy-making process. The site specialises in finding research evidence to fuel informed debate on current issues.
Although Society Central is based at the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER)

, its reach is national and it carries information about good-quality research on domestic social policy from a wide range of sources.
The content of the site is driven by policy debates, but its coverage generally falls into:
- children and education
- health, well-being and social care
- the social effects of economic policy
- welfare, work and unemployment
- family life
- crime and disorder
- housing and the environment
